Mushrooms

Sylvia, the movie starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Daniel Craig introduced me to the poetry of Sylvia Plath. Below, one of her best known poems.

Mushrooms

Overnight, very
Whitely, discreetly,
Very quietly

Our toes, our noses
Take hold on the loam,
Acquire the air.

Nobody sees us,
Stops us, betrays us;
The small grains make room.

Soft fists insist on
Heaving the needles,
The leafy bedding,

Even the paving.
Our hammers, our rams,
Earless and eyeless,

Perfectly voiceless,
Widen the crannies,
Shoulder through holes. We

Diet on water,
On crumbs of shadow,
Bland-mannered, asking

Little or nothing.
So many of us!
So many of us!

We are shelves, we are
Tables, we are meek,
We are edible,

Nudgers and shovers
In spite of ourselves.
Our kind multiplies:

We shall by morning
Inherit the earth.
Our foot's in the door.

Love Languages

The love of my life, V, is one of the emotionally intelligent men that I have ever met. I appreciate this so much. We had a conversation the other day about Dr. Chapman's 5 Love Languages. We both appreciate Physical Touch the most – but being at the beginning of such a beautiful relationship, I think we use all the love languages at the moment. I believe our relationship will be blessed with this knowledge. I have been surprised about how many people are ignorant about Love Languages, so below a very summerized version of his theory of communication.

Dr. Gary D. Chapman, author of The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to your mate focuses on communication between couples in a manner that entails more than just words. Do you relationship a favour and see what your love language is, it can only have a positive effect. He has a 30 second assessment that you can do to determine your love language on his website http://www.fivelovelanguages.com/30sec.html#love

Love Language 1 – Physical Touch

Kisses, Hugs, Holding Hands, Massage and Sexual Touch

Love Language 2 – Acts of Service

Mowing the lawn, making the bed, cooking, cleaning, fixing the gate and taking coffee in bed, taking out the garbage without being asked.

Love Language 3 – Receiving Gifts

Flowers, perfume, chocolates, note in his briefcase & the drill he’s always wanted.

Love Language 4 – Uplifting Words

“you look beautiful“, “I appreciated you“, “you did a good job and I’m proud of you“, “I miss you.”

Love Language 5 – Quality Time

Intimate dinners, conversation without the TV on, talking in bed, really listening & sharing, doing things together both parties love, being interested in each other’s hopes & dreams.

I am in love. . !

For it was not into my ear you whispered, but into my heart.
It was not my lips you kissed, but my soul.

Two souls. .

I have to take back every negative thing that I have ever said about love. .because. .
I am in love. .Truly. Utterly.

Two souls and one thought, two hearts and one pulse.

Faith

Faith is like radar that sees through the fog - the reality of things at a distance that the human eye cannot see.

God wants to talk to you. .

In this blog I have focused on adventure and the journey of life - at least I have tried to. Through the past couple of weeks after the news of being retrenched, I have gone through so many emotions. That in itself has been a journey. Many people have had me in their prayers and in my own Bible Study I have found so many messages of comfort and messages that kept me smiling. On my iGoogle homepage I have something called "Reminders from God" - this afternoon's message is: "Know I have prepared the way. My Spirit supplies the wisdom and strength for your journey" - now how can people not believe that our God is a living God???
He knows that I see life as a journey - He knows that I need strength and wisdom to find new employment. Last night I read about the new Jerusalem that is described in Revelations, I think it was Chapter 21. Whatever happens in the future, what a comforting thought to know that life on earth is temporary and that we should keep the focus of our journey to the goal of getting to the new Jerusalem.

Thoughts

I have always blogged at least once a month. September was the first month this year that I had absolutely nothing to say. I'll tell you why. I was caught up in the turmoil of experiencing one of the prettiest Spring seasons I have ever seen and the shock and horror of being retrenched. YES! The ONE thing that I thought would never happen to me - happened. The shock because it was only six months ago that I left a steady and well-paying job with wonderful perks for the adventure of working in the private sector again. I changed my WHOLE life around. Worst part was the enthusiasm that I did it with - I had a horrible first 6 months and now that I am finally settling down and starting to enjoy my surroundings and family - this. I still believe that the Lord has sent me here for a reason. I believe that like Esther, I am being positioned to help when the time is right. She didn't like the change at first. She adapted with grace, was prepared for years and finally could serve her people when she had to.
I am finishing my current job at the end of October so please pray with me that I will accept the position where the Lord places me with the same grace and enthusiasm that Esther showed. Please note that I am not saying WHEN the Lord places me, because I believe that His grace is never too late.
Then.
At the beginning of this year, I think around February, I saw a video of one of Def Leppards' songs called "Tonight". I made a note of the song's name and planned to blog on it, but never got around to it. Yesterday the memory of the song surfaced with such vigour that I YouTubed it, got the lyrics and again was amazed how perfectly the words expressed what I have been battling to verbalise the past few days. I think maybe through verbalising the thoughts I might chase the source away. I am experiencing spring in more than one sense is all that I am going to divulge at the moment.
This is a BEAUTIFUL song.

Def Leppard - Tonite (The DVD spells the song's title as Tonite, not Tonight)

DEF LEPPARD - TONITE

I don't wanna play the waiting game
And drift away leavin' an illusion
I don't wanna hide, It's foolish pride
To close my eyes a touch away from holdin' you

Don't try to look away when you're face to face
I see your eyes that animal emotion
You don't have to set your tender trap
It's in those eyes, it's gonna happen anyway

Movin' to the rhythm of your heartbeat, yeah
I'm wantin', willin', touchin' you, we'll be
Movin' to the rhythm of your heartbeat
Ooh babe, when you get that rhythm
Gonna move into your room

Tonight - Gimme love with no disguise
Tonight - I see the fire in your eyes
Tonight - So right, this night could be dynamite
Wait'n'see, if it pleases you it pleases me

There's nothing I can say, it's no mystery
It's in your eyes, those eyes are where I wanted them
So give me heart 'n' soul, I lose control
Can't stop my eyes from fallin' into fantasy

Movin' to the rhythm of your heartbeat, oh
I'm wantin', willin', touchin' you, we'll be
Movin' to the rhythm of your heartbeat
Ooh yeah, when you get that rhythm
Gonna move into your room

Tonight - Gimme love with no disguise
Tonight - I see the fire in your eyes
Tonight - So right, this night could be dynamite
Wait'n'see
Check it out

Tonight - Gimme love with no disguise
Tonight - I see the fire in your eyes
Tonight - I wanna win the greatest prize
Tonight - So right this night could be dynamite
Wait'n'see, if it pleases you it pleases me
