It's never too late to have a happy childhood..

It's never too late to have a happy childhood - Wayne Dyer

Somehow I missed the Wizard of Oz during my childhood, and now, after reading the book, I am besotted with the story! Do you know the words to the song "We're off to see the Wizard?

Sing along!

We're off to see the Wizard
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
We hear he is a Whiz of a Wiz
If ever a Wiz there was
If ever, oh ever, a Wiz there was
The Wizard of Oz is one because
Because, because, because, because, because
Because of the wonderful things he does
We're off the see the wizard
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Oh these bottles of wine..

Over another bottle of wine, my sister's wise and witty friend, L, who I am beginning to see as my friend too...told me about the Desiderata. What a beautiful set of rules to live by. As my spiritual mentor always used to say - read, but never forget to read your Bible first. True.

DESIDERATA
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all people.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to all even to the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.
Avoid loud and aggressive people, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself to others you will become vain and bitter;
There will always be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
It is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in you business affairs; for the world is full of trickery.
but let not this blind you to the virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;
and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection.
neither be cynical about love;
in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars;
You have the right to be here.
And wether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive God to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations,
in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

As long as I am here..

Listen to this beautiful song:

AS LONG AS I AM HERE – PRIME CIRCLE
I find that I am shaking,
From my head down to my feet,
My hands are sweating so bad
And I can barely speak.
Read between the lines here
Dunno what to think,
It’s a guessing game…

Was it the face?
Was it the moves?
Was it the way that she just knew me?
Was it the meaning behind every smile
I Try to walk, but can’t leave
Her eyes, they pierce right through me
But I don’t care
As long as I am here

Chorus

I can’t move cos I’m under her spell
Can’t breath, as a side-effect from this
And I know that this will be, the ends of me…
I can’t move cos I’m under her spell
Can’t breath, as a side-effect from this
And I don’t care,
As long as I am here

My head’s a mess
But at the time clearer,
And I’m feeling so content
But unsure,
Reaching out, reaching in,
Wish I knew what you were dreaming,
And I never want to ever let this go.

Seems the focus of my life has changed from adventure to journey. The frustrations encountered on my journey has had me in tears for the past week and again I think that I am too eager to reach my destination and not enjoying the scenery along the road. Busy reading Paulo Coelho's "The Zahir" and the introduction addressed all the above. I believe there will be adventure again on this new road that I have taken.

ITHACA

When you set out on your journey to Ithaca, pray that the road is long, full of adventure, full of knowledge. The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops, the angry Poseidon-do not fear them: You will never find such as these on your path if your thoughts remain lofty, if a fine emotion touches your spirit and your body. The Lestrygonians and the Cyclops, the fierce Poseidon you will never encounter, if you do not carry them within your soul, if your heart does not set them up before you.

Pray that the road is long. That the summer mornings are many, when, with such pleasure, with such joy you will enter ports seen for the first time; stop at Phoenician markets, and purchase fine merchandise, mother-of-pearl and coral, amber and ebony, and sensual perfumes of all kinds, as many sensual perfumes as you can; visit many Egyptian cities, to learn and learn from scholars.

Always keep Ithaca in your mind. To arrive there is your ultimate goal. But do not hurry the voyage at all. It is better to let it last for many years; and to anchor at the island when you are old, rich with all you have gained on the way, not expecting that Ithaca will offer you riches.

Ithaca has given you the beautiful voyage. Without her you would never have set out on the road. She has nothing more to give you. And if you find her poor, Ithaca has not deceived you. Wise as you have become, with so much experience, you must already have understood what Ithacas mean.
